Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty" shines a spotlight on the game's revamped police system and exhilarating vehicular combat. This expansion promises to bring exciting enhancements to the Cyberpunk 2077 experience

CD Projekt Red has unveiled a new promotional video for "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty," shedding light on the forthcoming DLC's revamped police system and fresh vehicular combat mechanics, among other exciting features. The release of this video comes around two months after the announcement of the DLC's release date, which was shared during the Opening Night Live broadcast preceding the 2023 Gamescom event.

This upcoming expansion marks the sole piece of paid DLC for "Cyberpunk 2077." Despite initial indications of more ambitious post-launch content plans, the game's turbulent launch prompted CD Projekt Red to divert significant resources towards rectifying issues with the last-generation console versions. The culmination of these efforts was the release of the "Cyberpunk 2077 1.6" update in September 2022, after which the development team shifted its exclusive focus to crafting the forthcoming DLC.

The video provides an enticing preview of what players can expect from "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty," offering insights into new gameplay styles introduced by the expansion. A standout addition is a comprehensive vehicular combat system that empowers players to utilize both melee and ranged weaponry while driving, enabling a more dynamic and fluid gameplay experience. The Gamescom 2023 video reveals previously unseen aspects of the vehicular combat mechanics, including the ability to initiate a jumping attack from a motorcycle.

The road combat element encompasses integrated vehicle weapons like rocket launchers and machine guns, contributing a cinematic flair reminiscent of 007 movies. The video also introduces three new Quickhacks: "Self-destruct," "Floor It," and "Emergency Brake." Notably, "Self-destruct" demands a higher resource cost, requiring 15 Cyberdeck RAM sticks, while the other two abilities each consume six sticks.

As players engage in road mayhem, they'll inevitably attract the attention of the Night City Police Department (NCPD), triggering the revamped police system. In "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty," police units will no longer materialize out of thin air; instead, they'll be summoned from nearby districts to intercept the player. The NCPD can establish road barricades and escalate the situation by calling in MaxTac forces when players attain the maximum fourth wanted level.

Beyond outlining the new gameplay mechanics, the Gamescom 2023 promo hints that the DLC may not introduce new fixers to the game. The video suggests that V, the protagonist, will receive their introduction to the Dogtown area from the character Mr. Hands, who is already established in the base game.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty" is set to launch on September 26 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X platforms.
