Destiny 2 Unveils Fresh Vex PvP Map and Introduces Relic Mode

Bungie has unveiled its latest offerings for Destiny 2 in Season of the Witch, showcasing a new Vex PvP map and an innovative Relic mode for the Crucible. As of today, Destiny 2 players can embark on the Season of the Witch storyline and acquire captivating new gear inspired by Hive adversaries.

Season of the Witch in Destiny 2 shifts the spotlight back to the Hive deity Xivu Arath. The Hive ghost Immaru approaches Eris Moon and the player, proposing the resurrection of Savathun, the Witch Queen, as a countermeasure against Xivu Arath. Savathun's role becomes pivotal in the quest to access the portal through the Traveler, as the Witness intends to manifest the Final Shape. This season introduces fresh seasonal activities and a weekly narrative progression that draws the Vanguard closer to the climactic confrontation depicted in Destiny 2's The Final Shape expansion. Bungie is also renewing its PvP focus with a new map and mode.

During the Destiny 2 Showcase, Bungie divulged details about the Vex-themed PvP map for Season of the Witch, named Multiplex. This map represents a stabilized Vex network, characterized by a lo-fi aesthetic. The Infinite Forest is intricately integrated into the map's design, featuring several spacious Vex structures that offer strategic cover during intense firefights. At the heart of Multiplex stands a significant Vex pillar, serving as a central point of action on the map. Notably, the Multiplex map minimizes long sight lines compared to other PvP maps, fostering frequent close-quarters combat engagements.

Complementing the new Multiplex map is the introduction of the Relic mode in Destiny 2's Crucible. Relic presents a 6v6 party mode where participants can defeat their Crucible rivals using relic items sourced from past raids and seasonal activities. These relics encompass notable artifacts such as the Aegis shield from the Vault of Glass raid, the Synaptic Spear from Season of the Risen, and the iconic Scythe from Season of the Haunted. To wield a relic, players must first accumulate personal relic energy by eliminating adversaries using weapons and abilities. Once the relic energy is fully charged, players can retrieve a relic from the designated relic depot on the PvP map.

These innovative PvP additions for Destiny 2's Crucible serve as a promising prelude to the upcoming The Final Shape expansion. Furthermore, the well-received The Citadel map from the Forsaken expansion is set to return in Destiny 2 Season 23. Bungie's newly formed "PvP Strike" team is committed to ensuring a consistent inflow of maps and modes into the Crucible, enhancing the long-term prospects of Destiny 2's PvP arena.
